This Contributor, Competition & Anthology Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the submission, acceptance, and publication of literary, artistic, educational, or creative works (“Contribution”) submitted to Kepressng Publishing (“Publisher”) for inclusion in:
- anthologies;
- collaborative publications;
- shared-world series;
- themed collections;
- competitions and writing contests;
- award programs;
- community publishing initiatives;
- special editions;
- serialized publications;
- marketplace-distributed compilations.
By submitting content to the Publisher, the Contributor agrees to the following terms.
1. Eligibility & Submission
Contributions may be submitted through:
- open anthology calls;
- writing competitions or contests;
- invitation-only submissions;
- community publishing programs;
- collaborative publishing projects;
- educational or themed initiatives.
The Contributor confirms that:
- they are legally authorized to submit the work;
- the submitted material is original or properly licensed;
- all submission information provided is accurate.
The Publisher reserves the right to determine eligibility, shortlist entries, select winners, and curate anthology participation at its sole discretion.
2. Competition & Winner Participation
Where Contributions are submitted as part of a competition, contest, or award program:
- winning entries;
- shortlisted works;
- honorable mentions;
- finalist selections;
- editor-selected entries
may be included in anthologies, promotional collections, showcase publications, or special editions produced by the Publisher.
Selection as a competition winner or finalist does not transfer copyright ownership to the Publisher.
The Publisher may publicly identify competition winners, finalists, or selected contributors in connection with promotional and publication activities.
3. Grant of Publication Rights
The Contributor grants Kepressng Publishing a non-exclusive, worldwide license to:
- publish the Contribution;
- include the Contribution in anthologies, collections, competitions, and collaborative publications;
- distribute the Contribution in print, digital, audio, educational, subscription, serialized, archival, and marketplace formats;
- create collection editions, omnibus editions, or boxed sets;
- market and promote the publication and related projects;
- display excerpts, previews, and metadata for promotional purposes.
This license includes the right to perform technical formatting, typesetting, accessibility conversion, and production preparation necessary for publication.
4. Copyright Ownership
Contributors retain copyright ownership of their individual Contributions unless otherwise agreed through a separate written contract.
The Publisher retains rights only to:
- the anthology or collection as a compiled work;
- publication formatting and presentation;
- cover designs and branding assets;
- collective publication rights associated with the anthology or competition edition.
Nothing in this Agreement transfers complete ownership of the Contributor’s intellectual property to the Publisher.
5. Human Authorship & AI Disclosure
The Contributor confirms that submitted works are substantially human-created.
Submissions may not be primarily generated by:
- artificial intelligence systems;
- automated content generators;
- synthetic writing systems;
- machine-generated storytelling platforms
unless expressly authorized in writing by the Publisher.
If AI-assisted tools were used during development, editing, research, or drafting, the Contributor must disclose such usage upon submission where required by submission guidelines.
The Publisher reserves the right to:
- reject undisclosed AI-generated submissions;
- remove works discovered to violate authorship policies;
- revoke awards, placements, or anthology inclusion;
- suspend contributor participation in future competitions or publishing programs.
6. Contributor Representations & Warranties
The Contributor represents and warrants that:
- they are the lawful creator or rights holder of the Contribution;
- the work does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights;
- the work is not plagiarized or unlawfully derived from third-party materials;
- all permissions for incorporated materials have been obtained;
- the Contribution does not contain unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, hateful, or prohibited material.
The Contributor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Publisher against claims arising from violations of these warranties.
7. Anthology, Competition & Marketplace Rights
The Publisher may:
- publish anthology editions;
- distribute competition-winning collections;
- create commemorative editions;
- produce themed or annual collections;
- create print, digital, audiobook, or multimedia editions;
- distribute works through marketplace, retailer, library, educational, and subscription channels;
- create promotional excerpts and previews;
- include Contributions in marketing campaigns, catalogues, and showcase materials.
The Publisher retains discretion over:
- publication scheduling;
- formatting;
- pricing;
- cover design;
- distribution platforms;
- marketplace availability.
8. Revenue Sharing, Prizes & Compensation
Compensation structures may include:
- royalty-sharing arrangements;
- contest prizes;
- promotional participation agreements;
- contributor copy programs;
- revenue participation models.
Where a publication operates under a royalty-sharing model, royalties shall be distributed equally among all contributors whose works are selected and published in the applicable anthology, collection, or collaborative publication, unless otherwise specified in a separate written agreement.
Prize amounts, royalty structures, and payment terms will be communicated separately where applicable.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- competition entry does not guarantee publication;
- anthology inclusion does not guarantee compensation beyond any applicable royalty-sharing arrangement;
- promotional anthologies may operate without royalty payments;
- Kepressng Publishing does not provide contributor fees, honorariums, or advances against future royalties.
9. Promotional Rights
The Contributor grants Kepressng Publishing permission to use:
- contributor names;
- pen names;
- biographies;
- author photographs;
- contributor rankings or award designations;
- excerpts from submitted works;
- publication metadata;
- anthology covers and promotional graphics
for advertising, publicity, retailer listings, catalogues, social media campaigns, press releases, and marketplace promotion.
Competition winners and finalists may be publicly announced unless prohibited by law.
10. Editing & Production
The Publisher may perform:
- copyediting;
- proofreading;
- formatting;
- metadata optimization;
- accessibility adaptation;
- technical conversion;
- production preparation.
Substantive editorial changes affecting the integrity of the Contribution should not be made without reasonable consultation where practical.
11. Withdrawal, Removal & Disqualification
The Publisher reserves the right to:
- reject or remove Contributions;
- disqualify contest entries;
- revoke anthology inclusion;
- suspend contributors from future participation
where submissions:
- violate this Agreement;
- infringe intellectual property rights;
- violate AI disclosure requirements;
- contain prohibited material;
- create legal or reputational risk.
Contributors may request withdrawal before publication; however, removal after publication or distribution may not always be feasible due to retailer, archival, production, or marketplace obligations.
12. Duration of Rights
The license granted under this Agreement remains effective for as long as the anthology, collection, or related publication remains in distribution unless otherwise terminated in writing.
Previously distributed editions may continue to exist in retailer systems, archives, libraries, and customer collections after termination.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kepressng Publishing shall not be liable for:
- indirect or consequential damages;
- third-party distribution interruptions;
- retailer delistings;
- unauthorized piracy;
- marketplace disruptions;
- promotional or competition-related disputes beyond applicable law.
14. Related Policies
This Agreement operates alongside:
- Terms of Service;
- Marketplace Policies;
- Digital Content & Licensing Policies;
- Copyright & Takedown Policies;
- separate publishing agreements where applicable.
Separate signed publishing contracts may supersede portions of this Agreement.
